You don't have time to read them all.

We do. Then we give you the top 5 in 5 minutes.

    Free. Every Monday. Forever.

The problem: You spend hours scrolling AI news. Most of it is hype.

What we do: We read 1,000+ articles/week, score them, and send you the top 5 that actually matter—in 5 minutes.

What you get every Monday 9 AM JST:

  • Curated AI news of the week (score 70+/100 articles)

  • Key patterns and trends
  • Time saved: Hours of scrolling → 5 minutes of reading

    Cost: Free

Commitment: Unsubscribe anytime with one click

We send it to ourselves every week. If we wouldn't read it, we don't send it to you.

  • 5:00 PM PST (Sunday evening, US West Coast)
  • 8:00 PM EST (Sunday evening, US East Coast)

    News & Content

How we curate and score articles

    Our 3-step curation process:

    Step 1: Automated Collection

We scan 20+ high-quality AI news sources daily using RSS feeds (TechCrunch, The Verge, OpenAI Blog, Google AI, Anthropic, and more). This brings in ~1,000+ articles/month.

    Step 2: AI Scoring (0-100)

Each article gets an "importance score" based on:

  • Technical significance (breakthrough vs incremental)
  • Business impact (can companies use this?)
  • Source credibility (research lab vs random blog)
  • Timeliness (published in last 72 hours = higher score)
  • Step 3: Human Curation

Our team reviews top-scored articles (70+) before featuring them. We filter out:

  • Duplicate stories (same news, different source)
  • Hype without substance
  • Paywalled or broken links
  • Only the best make it to dera news and the newsletter.

    Think: Signal, not noise.

The importance score (0-100) is our AI's prediction of how much this article matters to someone following AI developments.

    Score breakdown:

    90-100: Must-read

Major breakthroughs, industry-changing announcements, research milestones. Read these.

    70-89: Important

Significant updates, noteworthy tools, credible analysis. Worth your time.

    50-69: Interesting

Relevant but not urgent. Read if you have time or it's in your niche.

    Below 50: Background noise

We still include these for completeness, but you can skip them unless the topic is directly relevant to you.

Newsletter rule: We only feature articles scoring 70+ in AI Weekly. Life's too short for mediocre content.

The score isn't perfect (it's AI, not magic), but it's pretty good at filtering hype from substance.

    Continuously throughout the day.

    Update schedule:

  • RSS scanning: Every 30 minutes (automated)
  • New articles appear: Within 1 hour of publication (usually)
  • Japanese translations: Generated for score 70+ articles within 30 min
  • Manual curation: Daily review by our team
  • Best times to check:

  • Morning (9-11 AM JST): Fresh overnight news from US sources
  • Evening (6-8 PM JST): Updates from European sources
  • Anytime: Just check the homepage—newest articles appear at the top
  • Or skip the daily checks and get the weekly digest via newsletter. Same great content, zero effort.

Yes! We have featured topic pages.

    Current options:

  • Browse Featured Topics for curated collections
  • Individual topic pages (Large Language Models, AI Agents, Research & Development, etc.)
  • Switch EN ↔ JA
  • Save articles to personal collection
  • Coming soon (planned features):

  • Keyword search
  • Custom topic alerts
  • Multiple filter combinations
  • Between topic pages and the weekly newsletter, you can efficiently discover the news that matters to you.

Want a specific feature? Let us know. We build based on user feedback.

    Our translation priority system:

    Articles that get Japanese versions:

  • Importance score 70+ (high-quality content)
  • Published within last 3 days (timely news)
  • No paywall or broken links
  • Why we don't translate everything:

  • Cost: AI translation costs ~$0.0004/article (adds up over 1,000+ articles/month)
  • Quality: We only translate what's worth reading in both languages
  • Speed: Focusing on top articles means faster turnaround
  • If an article matters, it gets both languages. Lower-scored articles may stay English-only.

Want to read an English-only article? Use your browser's built-in translation (Chrome: right-click → Translate). Not as good as our AI-generated versions, but works in a pinch.

Found an issue? We want to know.

    Common issues:

  • Broken link (404 error, paywall)
  • Incorrect summary (AI misunderstood the article)
  • Duplicate article (same news, different source)
  • Inappropriate content
  • How to report:

Option 1: Email us at hello@dera.ai with:

  • Article URL
  • What's wrong
  • (Optional) Screenshot
  • Option 2: Contact form (if available)

We review reports within 24 hours and fix/remove articles as needed.

Thanks for keeping dera news high-quality!

Learn about the team behind dera news

dera news is built by dera, an AI consulting and development company based in Tokyo.

    Our team:

  • AI engineers who build custom solutions for companies
  • We use AI daily (obviously), so we needed a way to stay updated

  • Why we're qualified to curate AI news:

  • We build AI systems for clients (we know what matters vs hype)
  • We read research papers, try new tools, and ship real products
  • We're practitioners, not journalists
  • dera news is our way of sharing what we're learning as we build in the AI space.

Short answer: We don't make money from dera news. We make money from AI consulting and development services.
